5 Common Website Crawlability Issues Design Squid

If your website has crawlability issues, the chances are high that it won’t rank in search engine result pages. For that reason, you need to determine why your website is not crawlable. This guide explores the reasons your site might not be crawlable.

What are some crawlability issues that you might come across?

Every website owner’s primary objective is to ensure that their websites rank top in search engine results. While you can achieve that through an SEO strategy, the site’s crawlability is the foundational element of the site’s performance.

Here are the common website crawlability issues you need to know. #designsquid #crawlability #seostrategy Click To Tweet
  1. Dynamically Inserted Links
  2. Search Engines Blocked in robots.txt
  3. Noindex Tags
  4. Blocked URLs
  5. Broken Navigation Links

1) Dynamically Inserted Links

Dynamically inserted links like JavaScript links can impede a website’s crawlability. So, if your website is JavaScript-laden, it means the site runs on Server-Side Rendering (SSR) rather than Client Side Rendering (CSR). Unfortunately, this can affect the site.

2) Search Engines Blocked in robots.txt

If your site blocks search engine robots from crawling your pages, search engines will find it difficult to crawl and index the website. The robots.txt is not reliable to keep web pages from Google. it’s because search engines can index pages blocked by robots.txt.

3) Noindex Tags

Noindex tags can prevent your website from being indexed or crawled. So, site visitors may not get traction in a specific area of your website. That’s because of the “meta name=”robots” content =”noindex” tag” in the HTTP header.

4) Blocked URLs

Webmaster tools can sometimes block some URLs, reducing your site’s crawlability. It’s because Webmaster comes with a URL blocking tool. For that reason, double-check to ensure that the Webmaster tool has not blocked any internal linking on your website.

5) Broken Navigation Links

Broken navigation links can reduce your site’s crawlability. That’s because search engines discover URLs through internal links. So, if a link is broken, search engine crawlers can’t follow the link to find the additional pages within your website.

Improving Your Website’s Crawlability

Too many crawlability issues can reduce your website’s performance on search engines like Google. Consider optimizing your pages to let the search bots crawl your website. Remember to invest in technical SEO to improve the site’s SEO performance.
