Will web development become obsolete? We live in an age where there are programs that can write code for you. Sites like WordPress offer templates for designing pages in a few minutes. Can companies like Design Squid really compete with accessibility like that?
Ironically, the answer is a resounding yes. Although there is some utility to drag and drop web design, programs can’t duplicate a human touch. Things like user experience and brand identity are lacking when a program tries to mimic a professional web designer.

If you’re interested in a drag and drop web design, there are a lot of viable options out there. WordPress, Squarespace, and others all have some simple and effective website templates Some pros to this route are that it can be cheaper than hiring a professional designer, you have control over the design of your website, and you are not waiting on anyone for your site to be done other than yourself.
There are some drawbacks to this though. While it is true you are not waiting on anyone else, you are responsible for all the work. This means designing a website by yourself can take longer than it would when working with a team. And while drag and drop web design does have premade templates, they can be limiting.
User Experience
It is hard to ensure a great user experience with automated code writing and templates. Web designers are trained in making a user experience enjoyable which ensures more visitors to your website. User experience is not something you can just wing, so it makes sense to trust a professional web designer to handle this side of your website.
Brand Identity
On the design side of web development, brand identity is king. Artificial intelligence is severely lacking in this area. Because an AI isn’t intuitive with keeping content within an established brand, or in converting data into “digital paper,” your brand identity is often lost when you use this.
While machine learning is important, it can’t replace a professional web designer.
Web Design Isn’t Dying
At the end of the day, web design isn’t dead. For as long as we need websites, we will need web developers and designers. They are the architects of the digital world, and we can’t have any buildings without architects.
